DVD Review: "Fine: Beauty of Basics"

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

A week ago I ordered Sam Fine's DVD "Fine: The Basics of Beauty" and today I finally had time to watch it.

I think the DVD is great for anyone wanting to learn how to apply makeup correctly. Sam starts buy going over the items needed to create a flawless face (types of brushes, sponges, etc).    Sam then creates three different makeup looks with three different skin types.  He makes the application look easy (but he is a pro).  I love how the informational pop ups appear at the bottom of the screen.

I would buy this DVD for a teenager or any woman wanting to learn how to apply make up correctly.  This can be watched solo, with your child(ren), with your girlfriends, etc.

The DVD is $24.99 and can be purchased at www.amazon.com.

**I purchased this DVD with my own money.

Review Iman Cosmetics

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Well I must admit I am a now a fan of Iman Cosmetics.  After growing tired of MAC foundations and powders I began to do some research before I purchased any more foundation and/or powder.  After consulting with several professionals and reading several blogs I decided to try Iman Cosmetics.

The first item I purchased from this line was Second to None Luxury Radiance Liquid Makeup.  I love the way it goes on and it doesn't make my skin feel oily.  I do use a primer before I apply the product.  Price $14.99 at Ulta

The next item I purchased from their line is the concealer Cover Cream Enriched with Minerals.  This concealer is alright.  I personally think it is not creamy enough but it does get the job done.  I apply with my fingers.  I purchased this at Target and I do not remember the price.
Next I purchased the Second to None Cream to Powder Foundation.  I do not like this at all.  I do not like how it goes on.  It seems heavy on my skin.  I will not purchase it again.  I do not remember where I purchased this product it was either Target or Ulta.

The last item I purchased from this line is Second to None Semi Loose Powder.  I use this item on hot days because liquid foundation and heat are a hot mess.  I like the product my skin did not look ashy or dry.  I purchased it at Ulta and I do not remember the price.

*** I purchased all the products with my own money.

Wet n Wild Review/Swatches

Thursday, April 28, 2011

I decided to purchase a couple of Wet n Wild eyeshadows and blushes.  When I purchased them Rite Aid was having a 40% off sale.  Apparently everyone has been looking for this product because I had an extremely hard time finding them.  When I finally found them the pickings were slim but I did manage to find two eyeshadows and two blushes.

These products are great if you are learning to apply makeup, new to the industry, or just want to play around.
I Dream of Greenie:

Cool As A Cucumber

Pearlescent Pink

 Berry Shimmer

Pros:
Price is great especially if you catch them on sale
Great pigment
Long lasting

Cons:
Eyeshadow would fade once I blend the product. To get it to stay I would add the product to my blending brush
Blush comes on the brush extremely heavy.  I would use my kabuki brush and/or bronzer to tone the color down.
